About Scoutmaster Jose G. Lepervanche – Scouting Bio

Jose G. Lepervanche Scouting experience began in the Scouts of Venezuela Association where we was Sea Scout, Boy Scouts and Guide Scouts Scouter, District Outreach Commissioner, and participant of an International Scouting Leadership Training. Since moving to the United States he has been an active Scouter in both the South Florida (Pack 850 and Troop 840) and North Florida Councils. He is currently Scoutmaster of Troop 182 and he was selected by BSA in 2009 as one of 43 National Distinguished Scoutmasters.

Jose earned his first Wood Badge beads in Venezuela in 1993. After moving to the US, he earned his Wood Badge beads again in 2005 after being a participant in Wood Badge Course SR-651 where he was a member of the Eagle Patrol. He earned his third bead as NYLT Course Director in 2010 and 2011. Jose has been staff of every National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT Brownsea) since 2007 and he has attended each NYLT Course Directors Conference since 2009.

He is a brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow Echockotee Lodge, instructor at University of Scouting and Trainer’s Edge, and World Organization of Scouting Movement (WOSM) English-Spanish translator.  He has published his Scoutoons (www.scoutoons.com) in Wood Badge Gilwell Gazette. After being saved by CPR during a summer camp, he has been public speaker for BSA Speaker Bureau (Scouting for youth leaders and managers, Scouting 101 for college students) and American Heart Association about CPR / AED awareness and training and about the importance of being physically strong. Jose is the inaugural Professor of Supervision and Management at Florida State College at Jacksonville (www.lepervanche.com). Jose is married to Flor Ramirez Lepervanche and has four adult children including an Eagle Scout.
